My music is not based on melodies, chords or rhythms but is more about writing the sound itself. Each note and each musical figure are the components of a global sonic image, unified and physical, that reveals the tragic story of sounds. The orchestral works, from Già s'ottenebra il giorno and Reflets de l'ombre to the concerto When the moon of mourning is set, follow this idea: in the concerto the vibraphone is physically coupled to large percussion placed around it, so that a gesture struck on metal can reappear in skin or wood, or in a distant harmonic of the strings — a threshold instrument between the percussive attack and sustained spectral resonance.

My need for context-based music creation led me to what I call musica hic et nunc (music here and now): each performance becomes a unique epiphany that cannot be reproduced. This gave rise to the cycle Les espaces physiques (2017–2022) with Les Percussions de Strasbourg, an "inside-out" paradigm in which the electronics is produced inside the physical instruments, which are themselves placed around the public, so that global immersion and precise source localization are achieved at once; to I am in blood, which carries the augmentation onto a full ensemble in three-dimensional space; and to Atlas, performed simultaneously in Paris, Athens and Karlsruhe. The vibraphone is coupled through transducers and contact microphones to bass drums and metal plates placed around it, which become sympathetic resonators: a threshold instrument between percussive attack and sustained spectral resonance.

Les espaces physiques — augmented percussion

A cycle (2017–2022) written for and with Les Percussions de Strasbourg. The electronics are produced inside the resonating bodies of the instruments, which are placed around the public; each piece tests a different spatial disposition of the same idea. The three pieces then existing (Inside-out, Dendrum, Kore) were played as a complete cycle by the Sixtrum Ensemble at McGill–CIRMMT, Montreal, on 7 October 2021: video of the concert.
